The Marriage Course & The Marriage Preparation Course

About The Marriage Course

With two out of every five marriages breaking down in the Europe and North America and the divorce increasing dramatically in Asia Pacific, the institution of marriage is under threat today. The aim of The Marriage Course is to help reverse the decline by enabling married couples to build a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime.

The eight-session course was pioneered in 1996 at Holy Trinity Brompton, London. The Marriage Course involves a candlelit dinner, a talk and an opportunity for each couple to discuss a wide variety of issues relating to married life. The course is intended for happily married couples as well as those experiencing difficulties and is designed for non-churchgoers as well as churchgoing couples. It is our experience that the Marriage Course can also be an entry point for non believers to learn more about the Christian faith.

Topics covered on the course include Building Strong Foundations, The Art of Communication, Resolving Conflict, The Power of Forgiveness, Parents and In-Laws, Good Sex, and Love in Action.

The course has already been completed by more than a 1,000 couples at Holy Trinity Brompton, London and is now running in over 802 venues across the UK.

The Marriage Course manual has been translated into 7 languages, including Chinese, and is being run in 70 countries around the world including the United States, Canada, Belgium, Malta, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
