Once upon a time, I was told that God doesn't demand our ability to serve in His works but He would love to get us involved in His plan whenever we make ourselves available, physically, mentally and spiritually. Dear friends, here is my story that I would like to share with all of you ….

I used to be a churchgoer for more than 17 years before I really came to experience my Lord Jesus Christ and address Him thankfully as my heavenly Father, Who loves me so dearly and always there when I call on Him. I was also committed to Christian work in my previous Church and had been in leadership roles for years. I see it as a blessing whenever I look back - how God always placed me with new people and make new friends. One of my new friends from Canada said to me one day, " Tiffany, just like you, I too am a Christian, but what makes you so different in the ways of how you think and how you act? Is the Church which you go to make the difference? Can you take me to your Church as I also want to be like you ……." I knew it in my heart that Jesus makes the difference so I told my friend, "It's nothing to do with the physical church building that I was in but the One Who is alive in me ….."

As she is a native English speaker, she asked me to take her to the closest English speaking Church in our neighborhood, so on a sunny Sunday; we came to St. Andrew's Church. That was when we first heard about Alpha Supper. God comforted me in this new environment as He knows me well:" Take courage! …. take also the Alpha Supper!!" - I'm still thinking that He might want to fill me with a "full stomach" of courage on the Alpha Supper Night. Thank you Father, for we did courageously sign up for the Alpha Supper, and then, the Alpha Course. It was just a 10 week introductory course on Christianity, but it has shaken me upside-down and brought a revival to my Christian faith, not just a big head filled with biblical stories and knowledge. Alpha is one of the 2,500 evangelistic tools available worldwide, but it is so down to earth and presented in a straightforward way containing all the key components of Christianity all in this one course. As its unique character of being very practical with one crystal clear message, it speaks straight to the heart of every man just like what Jesus does; it helps myself and my friend to see ourselves in reality. With its integrity of proper teaching on the Holy Spirit, we had first experienced the baptism by the power of God's Spirit. My friend received Jesus Christ as her own Savior after the Course. Despite of my strong church background, I recognized I'm one of those blessed by God as I am also one of those who are "poor in spirit". I humbly bowed before Him and reaffirmed my faith before Jesus Christ. I'm now able to address Father God in a much closer way with a deeper sense of commitment in His Church.

I decided to resign from my previous job to make myself available for His use. He did recognize my heart for Him and He opened the door for me - He gave me a chance to help in organizing the first Hong Kong Alpha Conference in 1998. He sent me another gift - the first time in my life, I know what I can be when He is with me. It was a tough battle; it was never a possible goal to achieve with our limited resources here but He made that all possible and real to us. Praise our Lord for His provisions throughout the whole project! I had said a little prayer that HTB Team will come back to us again and speak for Jesus to my people in China ….. Again, God has recognized my heart and heard my call - He inspires His people to take a further step by faith to start an Alpha National Office here in Hong Kong to oversee the growth of Alpha in Hong Kong and in China. I do believe from the bottom of my heart, God is Alpha and Omega - He will finish the good works that He had started and He will involve each one of us in His project whenever we make ourselves "available". Friends …..., are you "available" today?! "Will you answer His call?"
